Philip Sparke is an Associate of the Royal College of Music where he earlier studied the trumpet, piano and composition. As a student, he was encouraged to compose his own studies which led to him writing solo pieces and teaching material for a wide range of brass and woodwind instruments, many of which appear in the syllabi of UK examination boards.

Part of the Anglo Music Play-Along Series, Philip Sparke's '15 Intermediate Classical Solos' follows on from his '15 Easy Classical Solos' and is aimed at the young instrumentalist who can play about an octave and a half. Specifically tailored to suit the oboe, this book introduces the developing player to more music from the Baroque to the Romantic periods, composed in a wide variety of styles, and offers invaluable additional materiel to complement any teaching method and includes both piano accompaniment and demo/play-along CD.
