BAROQUE FLUTE PIECES Book 1

This first book of Baroque Flute Pieces in the series of five offers a selection of wonderful early and mid-eighteenth century flute music. It represents some of the finest works for the flute and demonstrates the changing vogue and technology of that period, when a new instrument required new music. This series is part of the ABRSM repertory and has been superbly edited by Richard Jones. There is an informative introduction, background and performance note for each piece or group of pieces by one composer. There are twenty works here, for Flute with Piano and a Continuo part with figured bass, by composers such as Loeillet, Telemann, Handel and Michel de La Barre — the first major figure in Baroque flute music. This collection offers a comprehensive introduction to the student at Grades 1-4 level.
