Mozart wrote his four movement Serenade for strings No.13, in G, K.525 in 1787 and entered it in his own catalogue of works as "A little serenade". The four movements - Allegro, Romance, Menuetto & Rondo - were originally scored for quartet/quintet of 2 violins, viola and cello with optional double bass but not published until 1827, thirty-six years after the composer's death and as a result of the sale by Mozart's widow Constanze of a bundle of his compositions to the publisher Johann André. Eine Kleine Nachtmusik is widely performed and recorded today, often by string orchestra rather than the quartet Mozart envisaged, and the opening Allegro is perhaps the most popular tune he wrote.

Peter Lynch is an experienced composer, arranger, flautist and teacher. In this arrangement, he has given the first violin part of Mozart's serenade to the flute and spread the other three parts between the right and left hands of the piano, as an accompaniment.

  • II. Romance - Andante
  • III. Menuetto - Allegretto
  • IV. Rondo - Allegro
