"Adrian Vernon Fish has established a reputation internationally as a composer of insight, deep sensibilities and eclectic tastes. He claims no particular style." He has so far produced over two hundred works including twelve symphonies and other larger compositions, the more recent of which have been inspired by the vast openness of Greenland which has fascinated him since the 1970s. By contrast and more intimately, his music for winds suggests a love of Poulenc's work. An aneurysm in 1991 curtailed his composing activities and he moved to the north west of County Mayo in Ireland where he now broadcasts weekly on Radio Erris-FM and gives talks on the Inuit people of Greenland.

During the 1990s Adrian Vernon Fish composed and arranged for the publisher Kevin Mayhew and 'Festival for Flute' was produced at that time. The very playable ten pieces it contains are set in accessible keys and range in time from the Baroque to the late nineteenth century, covering a variety of forms and styles, by well known composers and those whose names will be new to many.

  • J.S. Bach - Gavotte
  • Pachulski - Prelude in E Minor
  • Somervell - Minuet
  • Granados - An Old Man's Tale
  • Grieg - Anitra's Dance
  • MacDowell - To A Wild Rose
  • Gurlitt - Serenade
  • Reger - Album Leaf
  • Karganov - Petite Valse
