After studying with Herbert Howells at the Royal College of Music and postgraduate study at Nottingham University, Alan Bullard went into part-time music teaching which led to a permanent post in Colchester, Essex for thirty years, until 2005. This gave him the opportunity to compose a range of music including several wind ensembles and teaching material, notably "Fifty for Flute".
Book 2 of this two volume collection is intended for students working at Grades 6,7 and 8. It contains 20 studies which further explore the versatility of the flute and the many moods and styles it can portray.
