Born into a musical household in Istanbul, Ayser Vançin played the oboe, piano and violin at school, and studied harmony and composition at the Istanbul Academy of Music from where she graduated with distinction. Later, she distinguished herself at schools of music in Paris and Geneva and won prizes in various international competitions before embarking on a busy orchestral and ensemble playing career which has taken her all over Europe. She has settled in Geneva where she teaches chamber music and oboe at the Conservatoire Populaire de Musique.

'Les Chants des Hommes' (The Songs of Men) and 'Le Réveil' (The Awakening) are the work of the Turkish poet Nazim Hikmet (1902-1963) and the inspiration for Ayser Vancin's solo pieces presented here. "The first piece 'Chants de la Terre' (Songs of the Earth) is written in the key of Db. Within its slow pace, a sense of rolling energy emerges as the Songs of the Earth are contrasted with the Songs of Men described by Hikmet. 'Réveil is more meditative and returns over and over again to rest on the note B."Hikmet's poems are included, translated into French and English.
