7 CANONS (score & parts)

Of the numerous canons from Schoenberg's legacy, we present here for the first time a selection in a practical edition. Various playing combinations are possible from string quartets, mixed ensembles to wind ensembles.
With his canons Schoenberg followed a quote from Brahms: 'If I do not feel like composing, I write something in counterpoint.' For Schonberg, counterpoint and composition were largely interchangeable: 'Without inspiration neither of them could arise.' These charming tonal canons are indeed inspired and offer exciting repertoire for inquisitive ensembles.
