A LAD, A LOVE AND A LASSIE (score & parts)

This suite uses three traditional songs either written or used by Robert Burns. The first, 'O Whistle, and I'll Come to You, My Lad' captures the youthful excitement of a secret flirtation it is lively and light in style with plenty of dynamic contrast. The second, and most well known is 'My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose' this features a semplice solo quartet verse, as well as more expressive tutti sections. The final song is the somewhat manically triumphant 'I Ha'e a Wife o'' My Ain' which races by in a fugal style.
