AUTUMN ART

Theresa Martin (b. 1979) is a composer of energetic, melodious, and rhythmically driven music and often draws her inspiration from literature, images, nature, and personal experiences.Autumn Art for clarinet quartet is made-up of four movements. The first movement "Mysterious" was inspired by the shortening of the days and lengthening of the nights during the autumn season. "Whimsical," the second movement, is a fugue between the four parts and foreshadows the swirling gestures of the fourth movement. Next is "Calm" - the opening theme from movement I is now a partitioned line, woven through the four clarinets. The last movement, "Agitated" was inspired by the movement of swirling leaves.
