This was the first piece I wrote for my woodwind ensemble at Highcliffe School, Dorset. If you listen carefully you can hear ‘Welcome to Highcliffe’ in the rhythm of the main theme. In the middle there is room for improvisation from someone in the group.
The Bass Guitar part comes with an additional Bass TAB part, and there are a variety of bass instrument options to hopefully cover the many variations of instrumentation a school might have.
Woodwind parts are included for the following instruments:
4 Flutes, Oboe, 4 Clarinets in Bb, 2 Alto Saxes, Tenor Sax, Bass Clarinet, Baritone Sax & Bassoon
The set also includes Bass Guitar, Bass Guitar with TAB, Drum Set & Keyboard
The part for Bass Guitar with TAB is set on 4 pages. The Keyboard part is set on 3 pages. The remainder of the parts are on single sided A3
Not all parts are necessary for this piece to work and the keyboard part covers the harmonies given in the easier woodwind parts.
Clarinet 1/Alto Sax 1 are needed for the solo-like part in the theme to work. Flute has the tune throughout, but not the extra solo. Clarinets 3 & 4 are written below the break.
Flute 1/Clarinet 1/Alto Sax 1 are grade 4.
Flute 2/Clarinet 2 are grade 2-3.
Flute 3/Clarinet 3/Alto Sax 2 are grade 1-2.
Tenor Sax is grade 2.
Flute 4/Clarinet 4 are grade 1.
