CONCERTO in Bb major

Dimler played the horn in the then famous Mannheim court orchestra which was made up of virtuoso players who became known as the first "Mannheim School". The orchestral playing techniques they perfected found their way into the works of the Mannheim School of composers who arguably influenced Joseph Haydn's and Mozart's symphonies. Dimler continued the Mannheim traditions in his own compositions of which this concerto is an example. It is apparently the only one of three to be published and is thought to have been written for Dimler's son. It may well be this concerto that the son performed very successfully in Munich in 1795.
