COOL PIECES

Keiron Anderson studied trumpet and keyboard at the Royal Northern College of Music before free-lancing as an orchestral player and forming his own orchestra to play on cruise ships. He has performed widely in the UK with such as Ronnie Corbett, Bob Monkhouse and Frankie Vaughan, and moved on to direct three concert bands and conduct various ensembles throughout the UK and in Europe. He was a peripatetic brass and composition teacher for ten years and Head of Music at a Yorkshire grammar school for eighteen.

Most of his published compositions are for wind and brass ensembles of various types and sizes, but he has written for accompanied solo winds - 'Cool Pieces' being an example. In the introduction Keiron Anderson writes "The five pieces in this book are designed to be fun to play for both the pianist and the soloist, and to be equally enjoyable for the listener. The music is based on the 'cool' style a la Miles Davis and Bill Evans, but the pieces are original and not improvised. There are optional parts for bass guitar and drums, should an ensemble performance be required for GCSE or AS performances, or just to add some colour for a concert item. Enjoy!"
