COMPOSITIONS for Clarinet in Bb Volume 2

Although his early start on the piano gave Graham Lyons a firm base from which to investigate harmony and improvisation, he was inspired by Benny Goodman's playing to switch to clarinet in his early teens. After National Service in the RAF he went to Oxford University to study Physics, but Music was still his priority and he took up the bassoon at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama instead, while supporting himself by playing clarinet, saxophone and piano in a jazz club. He became an orchestral and ensemble player and began composition for television and arranging for bands, cabaret and BBC orchestras. He also taught woodwind which led to publication of over 60 tutors and albums which achieved sales of more than 300,000.

'Compositions for Bb Clarinet' is a collection of 18 of Graham Lyons' attractive and tuneful original compositions in a wide variety of styles and in various keys and tempi.

This new edition of ‘Compositions’ includes the complete piano accompaniments and supersedes the old Useful Music edition (U130) that previously provided the piano accompaniments only on CD.
Free backing tracks are available to download from www.CliftonEdition.com/C571 .

The 'Graham Lyons Compositions' series was originally created by Useful Music in 2005 which subsumed the pieces found in 'New Clarinet Solos Book 2' (U23).
