Rob Buckland is internationally acclaimed as one of the most distinctive, versatile and influential saxophonists of his generation, performing and recording as concerto and recital soloist with a wide range of ensembles extending from Michael Buble's UK Big Band to many of the UK leading orchestras and several abroad. He composes for the concert stage and educational music which appears in many exam syllabi. He runs his own annual summer schools in Manchester and Harrogate, is Saxophone Professor at the Royal Northern College of Music where he co-directs the highly successful annual Saxophone Day, and gives masterclasses in Europe and as far afield as South Africa and Australia.

In some ways Rob Buckland and Andy Scott have had parallel careers. They were co-founders of the highly acclaimed Apollo Saxophone Quartet at the Royal Northern College of Music in 1985, and continue as members. Both teach saxophone at the RNCM, and in 2000 they initiated the RNCM's Saxophone Day and continue as its Co-Artistic Directors.
Andy Scott combines jazz, world music and contemporary classical elements in his commissioned compositions for performance and for educational purposes. Several of his works have had prestigious premieres in London, New York and elsewhere and his skill at writing for brass has earned him the position of composer in residence with the world famous championship Foden's Brass Band. He has written several works for the Apollo Saxophone Quartet and much of the material for his own larger ensemble SaxAssault.

Drawing on influences from all areas of the modern musical world, Andy Scott and Rob Buckland have compiled an exciting new book of eight contrasting pieces for Flute & Piano that introduce the open-minded flautist to new disciplines and styles, with an emphasis on rhythm and melody.
