FESTIVE BAROQUE + CD

The introduction to this selection of twelve pieces describes how the melodic line of baroque music played over a basso continuo, with the keyboard part usually figured to produce the accompanying chords, came about largely as a reaction to the rhythmic and tonal complexities of the Renaissance. With works by JS Bach, Handel and Johann Hasse, Telemann's 'Heroic Music' of 1728 is a good example of this principle, and five of the twelve pieces which make up his suite are included here. they bring out the "...movement, contrasts, expressivity and grace." which are characteristic of the music of the Baroque period.
The CD contains recordings of each piece with organ accompaniment and also accompaniments only for the soloist to play along to.
