GABRIEL'S OBOE

'Gabriel's Oboe' is the main theme to the soundtrack of the 1986 film 'The Mission' and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Score and won for its composer Ennio Morricone, the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score. The theme has been performed and recorded in various forms and arrangements including for the soprano voice of Hayley Westernra who set her own lyrics to the tune at the composer's request. Probably the best known performances are those for full orchestra conducted by the composer, of the mid-2000's in the series 'Morricone Conducts Morricone. The theme is here presented in a version for either Piano solo or for Oboe with Piano. accompaniment.
