GONE IN 60 SECONDS

This tiny piece was commissioned by Oxford Festival of the Arts to ignite a project for young composers to create new works for solo trumpet. The best pieces were to be selected for recording and broadcast and performed by Brendan Ball.
The piece, albeit brief, encapsulates much that the trumpet can do, and crosses an exceptional range, from pedal notes to high tremolos. It was recorded by Brendan Ball, to who the work is dedicated.
This tiny work was later used to create a larger work, a quasi concerto for trumpet, percussion and 10 solo strings, Duelle Romani.
