HORN QUINTET in Eb major K407 (score & parts)

A challenge and a delight to play for horn players around the world, the Quintet was written in 1782 for Joseph Leutgeb, virtuoso horn player (and owner of a cheese shop in Vienna). Transcribed and arranged from Mozart's string quartet instrumentation, this arrangement remains highly faithful to the original work, with enjoyable and energetic accompaniment to the horn solo. The first movement is a merry, lighthearted allegro with increasingly virtuosic horn writing. This is followed by a beautiful and pensive second movement before finishing with a flourish in the rondo, where the horn part and accompaniment alike are full of energy and joy.
