HYMN & DANCE

Bert Appermont studied music at the Lemmens Institute, Leuven in his native Belgium, and later at the Bournemouth Media School in UK where he won a Master's degree in Music Design for Film & Television. He has so far written some 45 hours of TV and film music including the BBC's 'Reel History of Britain', and over 100 pieces for symphony orchestra, concert band, brass band, choir. Appermort's music has been performed in more than 20 countries, mostly in Europe, and nearly all his compositions have been recorded.

'Hymn & Dance' is one of the 15 or so chamber and solo works he has written and it has been arranged for various woodwind and brass instruments in addition to the alto saxophone. The first 22 bars (Andante Cantabile) are the Hymn which precedes the Dance (Allegro Giocoso) whose rousing music fills the remaining 40 bars of the piece. "Because both lyrical as well as technical aspects are used, it is an ideal piece to show your versatility."
