As a performing saxophonist, Mick Foster has appeared and recorded with many internationally acclaimed ensembles, orchestras and solo artists, and his session work includes TV shows such as 'Strictly Come Dancing' and films including 'Predator' and 'The Penguins of Madagascar'. He teaches at the Guildhall School of Music & Dance and at Trinity Laban Conservatoire, both in London.

Much of Mick Foster's composition is for ensembles of various types and sizes but he also writes for saxophone (Eb & Bb) and piano. The five short and tuneful pieces which make up 'Jazz Gallery' are strongly contrasted in style and mood. As its title suggests, 'Havana Party' is built on latin rhythms and a rising four quaver motif. The "Stately" tempo marking of 'Celebration Song' suggests a grand public occasion rather than a personal one, and the off-beat piano accompaniment to the more sustained saxophone part of 'Beach Breeze' return to a latin style. 'Midnight Street' is marked "Moody" and is in the style of a ballad or perhaps an elegy, and the " Lively Swing" of 'Weekend Boogie' is a fitting finale to the collection.
