LA FESTE DE CLEOPATRE (playing scores)

Feste de Cleopatre for 2 oboes and 2 cor anglais ad libitum.
Between 1720 and 1770, three brothers in Paris were particularly skilled at playing the aristocratic family's favourite instrument, the ‘musette’ - they were the Chedeville brothers: Esprit Philippe (1696–1762), Pierre (1694–1725), and Nicolas (1705–1782). Pierre and Nicolas were full-time oboists in the Royal Chamber Music and the Parade Band.
The original title of this volume by Nicolas is: LA FESTE de CLEOPATRE A deux Musette ou Vielle.
The duets published here are also very well suited to choral performance. The enclosed version for F instruments (e.g., English horn, oboe da caccia, or musette in F) is intended for this purpose. This opens up a wide variety of instrumentation possibilities for forming a very popular ensemble at the time, a ‘bande de hautbois’.
In addition, this transposed version, since it is not as high, also offers the opportunity to play these charming duets with beginners.
The rules of French Baroque music apply to ornamentation. The first edition has been adopted. Articulations, alterations, and spelling have not been adjusted at any point.
