LA VIRGEN DE LA MACARENA

Subtitled, "The Bull Fighter's Song," this traditional Spanish tune is set here for solo trumpet & piano. This is the classic Koff arrangement based on live performances by soloist Rafael Mendez, in print since the 1950's. Features of this edition include high speed flourishes and use of 16th, 32nd and 64th note runs, including 9-tuplet and 10-tuplet figures. A written cadenza near the end of the work shows off the soloist. Range is from E at the bottom of the staff to high D (optional E) above the stave.
