In 1981 June Emerson received a letter from a customer in Buenos Aires which was so remarkable that she kept it, and replied straight away. The ensuing correspondence lasted eleven years, and covered topics ranging from music, literature, family life and politics (including the Falklands War).
The letters, reproduced in this book, are funny, thoughtful, moving and serious, and paint a picture of two fascinating personalities, living on opposite sides of the world, and in completely different cultural environments, yet both passionately concerned with what makes life truly worth living.
