Laissez les bons temps rouler! was commissioned by the World Saxophone Congress, and sponsored by UniStage and Creative Scotland.
Premiered by Branford Marsalis, and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Clark Rundell, on July 10th 2012, Younger Hall, St Andrews, Scotland, as part of the World Saxophone Congress XVI (Artistic Director Richard Ingham).

Subsequently developed by the composer in conjunction with Claude Delangle, including a fully notated solo part (the original solo part included sections for improvisation), the revised Concerto was premiered in July 2017 at Casa da Musica, Porto, Portugal by Claude Delangle and the Orquestra Clássica do Centro, conducted by José Eduardo Gomes, as part of EurSax (Artistic Director Henrique Portovedo).

The world premiere recording of this piano reduction version of the piece is included on the new album HOME, performed by Joáo Pedro Silva and Pedro Vieira de Almeida. The piano reduction was made by Simon Parkin.

A four-movement work of 20 minutes duration:
From a Distance…
New Orleans is a city like no other. Pictures of the devastating effects of Hurricane Katrina and subsequent rebuilding of the city that continue to be broadcast worldwide connect with everyone. This opening movement is intensely unrelenting, calming only at the close.
Arcturus lights the World Fair
Influenced by the great Wayne Shorter. The title refers to his love of astronomy and science fiction, in this case an event that took place in the year of his birth, 1933.
Far Beyond the Stars
‘They are all gone into the world of light! And I alone sit ling’ring here’ wrote the metaphysical poet Henry Vaughan (1621-1695). These poignant words form the focus of the emotional intensity of the piece.
Laissez les bons temps rouler!
An explosive folk-influenced finale that pits the soloist in virtuosic dialogue with the orchestra.
