Pascal Proust entered the Paris Conservatoire in 1974 and later graduated with first prizes in Solfeggio, French Horn and Chamber Music. He has been a member of Les Philharmonists de Chateauroux, Ars Nova ensemble and the Wind Quintet of Paris, performing in Europe, USA and the Far East and can be heard on numerous CD recordings. Proust teaches Horn and Chamber Music at the conservatories in Orleans and Montreuil, and has produced a two volume method, studies and accompanied pieces for horn and piano, besides over one hundred chamber works, larger ensembles and pieces for various instruments.

One of these is 'Paris Dance', published in 2015 but harking back to the Paris of the 1920's. The first half of the piece is the statement of a quite simple slow waltz, based on a crotchet rhythm. This is developed into a quaver based variation before the original theme returns for a few bars, followed by six bars of quavers, leading to a gentle little coda, marked 'piu lento'.
