Excellent book.

Uses "Saint Jacome's " method for exercises, which can be found online and is also available in print (which is possibly easier to read).

I was doubtful that it would be the right level as I've been playing a little while but "the internet" collectively suggest Claude Gordon's books and method are very good.

Starts very, very simply but together with the accompanying exercises from St Jacome, which are fun and challenging, builds range and "strength" quite quickly so that playing seems to require much, much less effort. Range within the exercises by lesson 15 (about halfway through the book) is A above the staff to F below the staff.

The shortest way to summarise this book is that it teaches how to play, rather than what to play.

I received the book only a day or two after ordering at a reasonable price.

Would recommend it unreservedly.

An excellent summary of the approach used by Claude Gordon to develop the most useful reflexes for playing trumpet
