SICILIENNE

Gaubert's lovely flute music arranged into an effective piece for flute choir with interesting parts for all players. Philippe Gaubert [1879 - 1941] was one of the highly influential French flute players of the early 20th century. He was a pupil and colleague of Taffanel and collaborated to produce the famous Methode de Flûte. He fought in WW1 at the battle of Verdun and in his later years turned to conducting instead of flute playing. The Sicilienne has been adapted for flute choir by Roz Trübger from the original which is scored for wind, harp and strings although it is best known in its form for flute and piano. Sicilienne was originally a traditional Sicilian dance of love in which young men and women could indicate an interest in each other by dancing together. CONTENTS: Score & Parts.
