SIX SONATAS

C.P.E.Bach is now regarded as a composer mainly for the keyboard but this ignores the more than thirty works he wrote for the flute, solo, accompanied and in ensemble. These include the so called eleven authentic sonatas for flute and basso continuo which are mentioned in the Catalogue of CPE Bach's Estate (Hamburg 1790) and five of the six sonatas published in this edition are described in the catalogue as having been written in Berlin between 1739 and 1746. All have the figured bass of the continuo realized by Kurt Walther in this edition.
