SIX SONATAS Op.2 Volume 2

Blavet began working life as a wood turner in his native Besancon in Eastern France, but by the time he was eighteen, he seems to have acquired such skill in playing a number of instruments including the flute that his reputation had spread to Paris, to where he moved. Via various aristocratic appointments, he entered the King's service in about 1738 by which time he was recognised as the finest flautist in France, with an international reputation as well.
Blavet published his six Sonatas Op.II in Paris in 1732 with a preface in which he emphasized the importance of breathing correctly. "......, whose whole grace depends upon the balancing of phrases, on clarity and precision, which cannot be attained unless one breathes properly, and in the appropriate places."
This is the second volume of the Schott edition which is edited by Hugo Ruf and contains Sonatas 4,5 and 6.
