Despite suggestions that JS Bach's G minor sonata BWV 1020 may have been written originally for violin, there are technical reasons why this is unlikely and current opinion is that it was intended for the flute. Grave doubts about its authenticity as a work of JS Bach's remain and the consensus now seems to be that Bach's eldest son Carl Philipp Emanuel probably wrote the sonata, possibly as a young child, under the supervision of his father.
Be that as it may, John Harle, who has transcribed this edition for saxophone says "....., it is good music - a light, springy three-movement work with a central movement of great intensity - suitable for performance on the saxophone simply because of the vocal quality of the music."
