Edmund Jolliffe studied music and composition at Oxford University , the Royal College of Music in London and Dartington International Summer School in Devon. His compositions cover a wide range of genres from educational to orchestral music via chamber works, solo and duo instrumental pieces and music for the stage, so that his catalogue runs to over sixty works. His TV music includes 'Who do you think you are?' for BBC 1, 'Long Lost Family' for ITV and Channel Four's 'Unreported World', and he was nominated for a Royal Television Society Best Score Award for the BBC film 'Elizabeth at 90'.
The ten pieces in 'Taking Off' stick to simple notation in simple key and time signatures, but they are well described by their titles so that they contrast strongly in mood and character to delight early level young clarinettists.
