Richard Benger graduated from Trinity College, London, where he won several prizes for composition and, whilst organist and choirmaster for churches in Buckinghamshire, taught music in schools there for over twenty-five years. He has composed a concerto and other works for saxophone, numerous keyboard works, choral compositions and about one hundred songs.
These thirty original studies are written in folk, classical, jazz and pop idioms and are published in three sections, A to C each of which contains studies suitable for a range of two grades - see 'Contents'. The studies in each section make use of the principal keys for each grade, scales and arpeggios in those keys, articulation, phrasing and other techniques appropriate to the grades in question.
