In the same year that he qualified from the Fribourg Conservatoire in his native Switzerland, Jean-François Michel was appointed Principal Trumpet of the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra where he remained until 1986. He then returned to the Conservatoire in Fribourg as professor, a position he continues to hold within the regional Haute-Ecole de Musique while performing as soloist, chamber musician and giving masterclasses in Europe, Japan and South America. Composing has now become his major activity and works from his wide-ranging catalogue are performed and recorded worldwide.

The publisher's website description of these pieces reads "Bagatelles, similarly to “Badineries” or “Capricci” allow composers to express their sense of humour of parody or derision.
This genre inspires strongly Jean-François Michel as his 3 Bagatelles for oboe and piano show... These pieces require a good musical and technical understanding between performers with free hand for their imagination.
Jean-François Michel has developed a creative and versatile repertoire for his numerous and talented students. Nevertheless, the evident quality of these musical works means that they make excellent concert pieces."

  • II Adagio misterioso (c. 2'40'')
  • III Allegretto (c. 4')
