Louis Drouet (1792-1873), much admired virtuoso flautist, composer, musical director and opera director, was 'a flautist of truly European standing and sphere of influence'. His method still forms part of today's standard teaching repertoire.
The 'Little Sonatas', published here for the first time as a separate new edition, constitute the final section of Part 3 of his method, and the flute part of each sonata is prefaced with arpeggios on the tonic and dominant of the appropriate key. The first edition provided two performance options in one score - flute duet or flute and keyboard with figured bass. Schott & Co. have published the two versions separately with the figured bass in this one realized by Gottfried Bach into a harmonic accompaniment.

  • Sonata No.1 in C major: Allegro - Adagio - Menuetto, Allegro - Finale, Allegretto
  • Sonata No.2 in A minor: Allegro moderato - Cantabile - Rondeau, Allegretto
  • Sonata No.3 in F major: Allegro maestoso - Largo - Allegretto
