I am a Music Archaeologist. For the past 20 years I have been fascinated by the amount of good music that is forgotten. Ranging from symphonies to flute music, I track it down, dig it up and make a new edition with a virtual performance on a play-along CD. My research has taken me all over Europe and I have appeared at the BBC Proms. For several years I have been writing articles about forgotten flute music for Pan, journal of the British Flute Society. Recently I was especially pleased to have uncovered the music of Sir George Alexander Macfarren.

A delightful little piece, humorous music that makes a good concert item or encore and also is suitable for GCSE music performance. Macfarren's style is similar to that of Mendelssohn. Trifle no.1 was written for flute, but it sounds very good when played on piccolo. Macfarren is now a forgotten composer but he was famous in his day. CONTENTS: Flute [piccolo] Solo.
