Christopher Tambling studied Music at St Peter's College, Oxford University which later led to his employment as the organist and conductor of the symphony orchestra for the city of Perth in Scotland, and Music Director of Glenalmond College nearby. In 1997 he returned to his native Somerset as Director of Music at Downside School and organist and Choirmaster of the Scola Cantorum of Downside Abbey, remaining there until his death in 2015.

With this background, it is not surprising that many of his compositions are liturgical works for choir and organ but he did also write for wind instruments including duets for players at about Grade 1 - 3 standard in the 'Tunes for Two' series. Each book contains thirty well-known pieces in duet arrangements which progress from a simple start to offer more of a challenge at the end. They can be used to introduce students to ensemble playing, practise sight-reading or simply to play for fun at home or at school. Christopher Tambling ends his introductory note by saying "I hope that 'Tunes for Two' will be enjoyed by players of all ages and abilities."
