YolanDa Brown is an award-winning musician, broadcaster and philanthropist, known for her delicious fusion of reggae, jazz and soul. She has toured with The Temptations, Jools Holland's Rhythm and Blues Orchestra and Billy Ocean and collaborated with artists such as Snarky Puppy's Bill Laurance, Kelly Jones from Stereophonics and the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. A champion of the importance of music education, YolanDa is chair of Youth Music.

She has drawn this varied selection of eleven titles from a wide range of genres. The Big Band jazz standard 'Blue and Sentimental' by Count Basie is the earliest piece (1938) and it is followed by Erroll Garner's lovely jazz ballad 'Misty' (1954). Coming forward to the 1960's, there is an arrangement of Taylor and Dallas's R&B hit and Civil Rights anthem'I Wish I Knew How it Would Feel to be Free' as recorded by Nina Simone in 1967; and from the same year, Otis Redding's '(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay' which he recorded three days before his death in a plane crash so that it was released posthumously to become the sixth most often performed song of the twentieth century and a cornerstone of Soul. Billie Calvin's 1977 hit 'Wishin' on a Star', as performed by Rose Royce is another fine ballad which contrasts strongly with Fela Kuti's 'Lady'. He has been described as the pioneer of Afrobeat from his fusion of traditional Nigerian Yoruba music with jazz and funk idioms. Gospel music is represented by Richard Smallwood's 1996 classic 'Total Praise' and with a rap element, by Stormzy, the self-styled 'child of grime' with his 'Blinded by Your Grace'. Celeste, who has been described as "the finest British Soul singer to emerge in years" contributes 'I Can See the Change' and YolanDa Brown includes two of her own tuneful jazz numbers with their catchy reggae backing.

  • Blue And Sentimental (Count Basie)
  • I Can See The Change (Celeste)
  • I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel To Be Free (Nina Simone)
  • Lady (Fela Kuti)
  • Million Billion Love (YolanDa Brown)
  • Misty (Erroll Garner)
  • (Sittin' On) THe Dock of the Bay (Otis Redding)
  • TokYo Sunset (YolanDa Brown)
  • Total Praise (Richard Smallwood)
  • Wishing On A Star (Rose Royce)
