A graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, Michael Rose served three years in the Band of the Scots Guards before embarking on a career in Music Education in and around London. In the 1960's, he added conducting to his C.V, firstly apprenticed with the BBC Northern Orchestra (now the BBC Philharmonic) and later as Assistant in Charge of the BBC Training Orchestra in Bristol which he conducted in two Proms concerts in 1970. Two years later, Rose returned to music education as Music Adviser in Bedfordshire where he built up an expert instrumental teaching team and developed all sorts of music ensemble opportunities for young musicians and singers. In 1990 he retired early to study, compose, conduct and examine for the Associated Board which took him all over the world. His private teaching continued and, for services to music, he was awarded the OBE in 1990.

'A Miscellany for Clarinet', Book II consists of eleven of Michael Rose's own easy pieces, four of them unaccompanied, in a variety of contrasting styles and moods; in simple key and time signatures and mostly written within and below the stave. They provide tuneful and attractive learning material for developing players up to about Grade 3 standard and beyond.
