CONCERTO in Eb major

With an output of some four hundred works including 30 symphonies, 22 piano concertos, numerous keyboard trios & sonatas and 2 clarinet concertos, Leopold Kozeluch has been described as being too prolific. In 1778 he went to Vienna where he became the favourite pianoforte teacher of the aristocracy and did well enough to turn down, three years later, the offer of Mozart's old job as court composer to Archbishop Coleredo in Salzburg. After Mozart's death in 1791, Kozeluch did replace him at the court of Emperor Leopold II in Prague and staid there until his own death. The publishers have not provided a preface to this concerto, leaving the music to speak for itself.
