Holly Clark - Trumpet

Picture on Pin Pointing

We are absolutely delighted to welcome trumpeter, Holly Clark, as our newest June Emerson Wind Music Young Artist. She is an exceptional young talent and we are looking forward to following her on her professional musical journey.

Holly’s love of music first began playing in brass bands. At the age of 16 she started studying at Chethams School of Music. She became co-principal cornet of the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain in 2017 and, the following year, principal trumpet of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain. Highlights with NYO include playing principal trumpet in Gershwin’s Piano Concerto in F, Symphony No.3 by Aaron Copland and John Adams’ Dr Atomic Symphony at the Royal Albert Hall during the Proms and at the Konzerthaus in Berlin.

Holly is a committed chamber musician. Performances have included playing at the London International Festival of Early Music and in collaboration with The Barratt Due Institute in Oslo, where she performed Richard Strauss’ Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme and suites from Sibelius’ Brass Septet.

In 2018 Holly won The Harry Mortimer Award for best solo performance awarded by the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain. She also won the Best Soloist award at The Bolsover Festival of Brass in the Championship section, with Longridge Brass Band. In March 2019 she performed at The Wigmore Hall, playing Legende by George Enescu for trumpet and piano. Other solo performances have been in venues such as St Luke’s Church, Piccadilly (London), Manchester Cathedral and The Bridgewater Hall in Manchester.

Holly left Chetham’s in 2018 with a DipABRSM (distinction), three As at A Level and scholarship offers from three top London conservatoires.

Holly was awarded a full scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music, where she has just begun a four-year course studying trumpet with Mark David. She is looking forward to performing with the Academy Symphony Orchestra and Symphonic Brass.
