RHYTHMICAL ETUDES FOR BASSOON

Karel Pivonka was Professor of Bassoon at the Prague Conservatoire and later at the Prague Academy of Music. In writing these 25 etudes, he not only addresses rhythm by using a variety of time signatures and tempi between the studies, but he also uses rubato and invites expressive playing within them. This encourages the student to experiment with a range of colourful expressions so that these studies are not only challenging but also enjoyable to play.
