This collection of 28 pieces follows the First Book of Oboe Solos both technically and muically and its contents are presented progressively. Many of the pieces are written 'cantabile' to encourage a good singing style which, with good intonation, the editors consider to be essential for an oboist. They have also provided 'resting places' for breathing and embouchure recovery, consistent with suggestions for phrasing which the players are encouraged to discover for themselves in the C17th and C18th pieces.
