We listened to Bali Moods on YouTube. My wife Susan plays the flute and found the piece challenging but so beautiful to be worth the effort of practicing until she is comfortable playing. Piano part is quite easy with wonderful syncopation

Very uplifting piece that gives ample opportunity to demonstrate a variety of flute ‘colours’. Best if you can really let go. Technically, I suppose this is approx grade 8 but a good grade 6 player could master it. Then again, a top class performance is grade infinity.

An excellent resource for learning the Alto trombone. Studies are approachable with a good level of challenge and progression and well linked to orchestral repertoire.
It does require pre-knowledge of Alto clef.

An excellent go to resource for alto trombone players. This goes beyond the choral classics (Mozart Requiem etc) and includes works by Berg, Britten, and Schoenberg.
Parts are generally well organised and presented, though some page formatting would help distinguish between different pieces. Some annotation to present the context and top tips would also add to the value of this resource.

Extremely difficult to make this sound good! My son wanted to use one of these for his grade 8 study but his teacher pointed out that if the examiner happened to be a violinist they would be hard to impress! But great practice for fluency

Nicely printed edition of an excellent concert piece; serious music that is still easy to listen to, not too demanding for the player, but not without its challenges! Late romantic feel, not unlike Brahms or Stanford, but definitely with an English feel and certain quirkiness.

Making the Grade books 1,2,&3 are an invaluable source of simple but musically satisfying melodies for a pupil to gain experience of ensemble playing.
Musical confidence in counting, rhythmic control, shaping the phrases with clear attention to their melodic content and developing their ability to hold their own part while at the same time making music with an accompanist is an essential component for musical confidence and enjoyment.

I wanted to study this piece, on account of its unusual instrumentation. This edition is nicely laid out and presented, well suited to my purpose. The score does offer a few hints as to the origins of the piece, but I would have appreciated the inclusion of a couple of descriptive paragraphs on the background.

I have used the Trevor Wye beginner books for many, many years. I particularly like the order in which notes are introduced. Some books move too fast. I incorporate other books once we get to Book 2 but stick with the programme to the end!
