SONATA Op.58 No.1 in E minor

Devienne was a virtuoso on the flute, oboe and bassoon which he played in Parisian orchestras in the late 1700's, as well as filling the post of professor of flute at the Paris Conservatoire. Besides 12 operas, he wrote many flute and bassoon concertos and chamber music - quartets, trios & sonatas for various combinations of instruments. Much of his chamber music was reprinted in London about 1800 and his flute compositions especially were popular for a time.
