'YolanDa Brown is an award-winning musician, broadcaster and philanthropist, known for her delicious fusion of reggae, jazz and soul. She has toured with the Temptations, Jools Holland's Rhythm and Blues Orchestra and Billy Ocean and collaborated with artists such as Snarky Puppy's Bill Laurance, Kelly Jones from Stereophonics and the BBC Philharmonics Orchestra. A champion of the importance of music education, YolanDa is chair of Youth Music.'

Her wide ranging selection of eleven titles by black composers starts with Count Basie's big band swing of 1938 'Blue and Sentimental' and includes the lovely jazz standard 'Misty' (1954) by Erroll Garner. YolanDa has also edited the 1960s R&B anthem of the Civil Rights movement 'I Wish I Knew How it Would Feel to be Free' and Otis Redding's '(Sittin' on) the Dock of the Bay' which was rated the sixth most performed song of the twentieth century. Other composers/artists represented include the rapper Stormzy, Celeste and Fela Kuti besides two of YolanDa Brown's own compositions, in a selection suitable for Grade 3 to Grade 5 saxophonists.

  • I Can See The Change (Celeste)
  • I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel To Be Free (Nina Simone)
  • In A Sentimental Mood (Duke Ellington)

  • Million Billion Love (YolanDa Brown)
