This is the most beautiful piece of music, full of romance! It has taken a big place in my heart, and become my signature piece. When you play it you feel like you are soaring. Requires excellent control of your embouchure to achieve the sweet heights of the upper altissimo.

A good piece, not too difficult, and everyone has plenty to do. We've been working at it on a summer school and got it up to a reasonable performance standard.

This is a good piece, though fairly tricky, and the manuscript is a bit hard to read. But worthwhile working at.

Nicely printed. Mostly well known pieces. I made the mistake of assuming the horn part would be included, it is not. You have to order it separately. There is quite a bit of music (and music is never cheap) but overall I thought it was not good value. If you only want the hymns a hymn book might be a better buy.

A charming memorable piece, very tuneful. Quite short. I played it on a French horn which seemed to go down well with an elderly audience. I think the tune may have been used by the BBC decades ago. In the piano part the solo part is written at pitch in the bass clef and would suit a bassoon. The solo part is written for an instrument in B flat an octave higher. Overall I recommend it.

As a piece of music I quite like it and I like the composer too. I think a little known piece. It requires good control by the horn player. Unusually, the horn has more low pedal notes than the organ, down to a low A flat. The recordings I listened to were 90% horn and 10% organ but looking at the score I think 50-50 would be better. I hope to play it in a church after the service is ended. Good value and well worth buying.

These are all good exercises for advancing players. My advice is to work at it gently - not for more than about 10 minutes - and don't panic! No need to learn it all - just learn the bits that seem to help you (plus the bits teacher tells you too!)

A great book with theory, tips, sample exercises, scales etc. delivered with informal good humour. I would recommend it for intermediate and advancing players, rather than beginners looking for a structured day by day approach.

Using The Buzzing Book is a great way to warm up on all Brass instruments. It also helps develop your sense of pitch, range and intonation. The author is a fantastic Trumpeter himself and his insights on how to use the material to optimum benefit are insightful.
I would recommend this book to any brass player from beginner to advanced.

Andrew Muir about  CLARINET TRIO TRANSCRIPTIONS:
Aug 27, 2023

Some encore pieces are designed to dazzle the audience with technical wizardry - others to restore a smile to the soul. These are the latter - Hough generously gives the cello and clarinet most of the limelight but these pieces are really not about limelight. You can imagine Messrs Collins, Isserlis and Hough really enjoying playing them after an evening of intense 20th century workout. A treat for players and audience alike.

Julia Harding about  CONCERTO in D minor BWV1060 Solo Oboe:
Aug 31, 2023

Clearly set out edition of this wonderful piece which is a joy to play. It is the D minor version of the C minor concerto for oboe, violin and strings - D minor is a kinder key for the strings and oboe.

Julia Harding about  TROIS PIECES:
Aug 31, 2023
(Verified customer)
For flute and oboe (or flute) - my duet partner and I have enjoyed these. The first piece is the most challenging in terms of rhythm and tonality but typical of Bozza's very unique style. The second and third pieces are slightly easier but both pose challenges for both players. The flute part goes up to high A and the oboe part goes down to C with the highest note being D sharp above the stave. Higher-intermediate and advanced players will enjoy these.

Fab, arrangement of the Iolanthe overture. Very Mendelssohn-esque, light and fairylike. Delivery was swift and the whole transaction was super efficient. The 'other' G & S overture wasn't available so another swift result was a quick refund. All in all very pleasing both musically and with its delivery.

A pleasure if you can manage your breath control. A welcome addition to the 2 part inventions arranged for 2 clarinets. The paper is poor though and the printing not very good. I reprinted the score on firm white paper and it made reading easier.

If you play the saxophone and you like Bach, then this will broaden your options beyond the first cello suite. Many of the pieces are difficult as the D/E level suggests, but some are simpler and there are 43 from which to choose, which is great value for money!

Competent arrangement of a real audience pleaser. Very brief but the inclusion of a less familiar theme from the same film score ['Brothers'- flute feature] makes a good pairing. The accompaniment parts appear straight forward but require a surprising degree of breath control.

This is a wonderfully fun piece! Has the famous Rhapsody n Blues gliss as it’s start. So it is great to hold the C vibrato go into this wonderful tune, where listeners don’t expect. The ending is one of the few pieces I know that stays in the altissimo for 13 bars, finishing on a long high alt. Bb. A joy to learn, a joy to play.

Alison McMillan about  THE BEATLES Four Songs (TC):
Oct 10, 2023

If you have 4 brilliant euphonium players, then I'm sure it is great. The 1st part is extremely high, which suited us with a flugel on the top line instead. It would be more generally usable if alternate parts for flugel, tenor horn and French horn were provided for the upper parts, and Eflat bass for the lower.
