The accompaniment should be in the separate booklet and the wind sheet music should be printed in the book. Apart from those two points, it is a good music book.

The large number of uploads to youtube suggest this is a popular performance piece. Listen to some of them. It will give you a better idea of the style and demands of the piece than a short verbal description here. Having done that myself, I bought it! I enjoyed learning the piece and find it fun to play.

These are excellent etudes for the advanced tuba player. They explore the true low range thoroughly. (There is a companion volume - Lower Etudes!). This is my second copy of Low Etudes, and I use the studies regularly. Low and extra-low practice is just as important as high note work!

This is an excellent, well thought out and well set book (digital) of warm-ups. The focus is on achieving a proper 'Horn' sound through warming up the breathing and support systems. If you're looking for another book of written out flashy lip exercises in different keys, this isn't for you. The ideas and concepts Mr. Ashworth writes about are the very essence of good Horn playing.

This is great music for Christmas. We put our newest horn player on horn 2 (quite straightforward music) and then the rest of us rotate around horns 1, 3 and 4. The arrangements work really well. There are 2 things worth mentioning, though. Firstly, playing off the score isn't great. Individual parts would be handy - maybe I just failed to buy them?! And, second, some of the pieces are the American versions of well known carols and thus different from the UK versions. That's fine for us (one of us is American) but is worth mentioning. We love these arrangements though and can't wait to do an outside concert with them soon.

I'm an amateur clarinetist and our wind quintet enjoys Bozza's variations on a theme, so I looked out for other works and found this one. It's not as long as I expected for the price, the key signatures take some getting used to, and it's definately more difficult than the quintet but I think it's worth working on it if like me you enjoy Bozza! The rating is only provisional because our octet won't get down to playing it together til after we've all been vaccinated... I'll send more feedback then!

Working with a teacher who has an earlier edition is challenging as the numbering and also, I think, some of the content has been changed. That aside, these studies are satisfyingly challenging without moving into atonality. They also have realistic metronome markings!

This is certainly not a collection to play through from beginning to end. Hommage a Manuel de Falla is both difficult and exciting, though a bit over-long. One day I'll have a go at another one. Be warned though that some of these solo pieces are also available with a basic piano accompaniment, so check out if some of them are already in your music library.

These pieces are challenging and thought-provoking, satisfying and also addictive, but hard. Every note counts: dynamic, articulation, value, quality, position in phrase, position in the whole piece. Speeds are very slow on the whole, and Berg specifies very exact time lengths. You need to be ready to have a go at flutter-tonguing as well. Another challenge will be working on these pieces with a pianist. The edition is very clear, and has been carefully presented with the piano part printed with the clarinet line and page turns easily manageable.
