Bought this at the same time as the Etudes to discover more about the composer - first impressions not so thrilled as the beautiful Studies, and very expensive, but will persevere and there are some lyrical moments and unusual but expressive harmonies.

Bought this for Woodall Serenade to teach my grade 6 Trinity pupils and found plenty of other lovely music in here. Really useful book with well known flute solos for developing flute player, and the Woodall Serenade is a real find - beautiful, pastoral piece, one of only two pieces this composer wrote, both for flute, and both for the Dutch flautist Edward de Jong.

Bought this book to investigate Trinity grade 6 repertoire and have enjoyed playing all the songs myself. Nice arrangements for piano, some of the flute parts are high so flute players will need good technique in third octave.

Rabboni was a new find for me after many years flute playing, having watched Paul Edmund Davies talk about finding the manuscripts in an antique shop some years ago. These are delightful pieces, harder than they look to play with confidence and musicality - I didn’t suggest them for my grade 6 pupils in the end. Lovely piano parts, interesting mix of one or two movement ‘sonatas’, some seem more like etude ideas, but all fit the flute beautifully.

I really enjoyed this book. Heather Wastie has assembled a wonderful collection of amusing poetry, mainly with a musical theme. This book would make an excellent present particularly for musicians. Highly recommended.

Great piece, and surprisingly playable despite extraordinary key signature (6 flats plus a double flat) in the slow movement. For such an expensive edition it would have been nice to have alternative parts, or a score in C rather than at transposed pitch.

Excellent service from June Emerson. The book contains interesting pieces although some seem a little contrived with regard to articulation, dynamics, interval leaps and time changes (presumably to ensure sufficient rigour as exam pieces). Overall, I would recommend the book. It's certainly value for money.

The work is written for students at the Conservatory of Amsterdam: Fleur Bouwer (cl), Maria Milstein (vl) and Martijn Willers (pf). A recording was made in Splendor, Amsterdam 2017 by Charles Neidich (cl), Maria Kouznetsova (vl) and Daniël Kramer (pf). This recording available at samekmusic.com

If you are contemplating the studies of Andersen you are already a ‘serious’ flute player. Probably you already have an excellent teacher...maybe that is why you are choosing this Opus 15? Well, that is why I bought the book. In particular my teacher recommended No. 3. It has a tune within all those triplets! The Louis Moyse practice tips are really helpful although I kind of wish he had written them out a little longer than a few bars but maybe it is best that you have to work it out. It will take a while to master the whole book....if ever!! I repeat. You need a good teacher otherwise you will give up after no. 1. Unless you are already a maestro, in which case it will be all fun and easy.
